I have been researching the Brooksher, Brookshire, Brookshier, & Brookshaw family name. I grew up spelling my name {Brooksher} but other family members spelled the name {Brookshire}. My grandfather is Homer Jay Brooksher, great grandfather is Jasper Pierce, may be spelled {Pearson} Brooksher. Jasper may have gone by the name of James. Great great grandfather is John M. Brooksher. John also may have gone by the name of James. Great, great, great grandfather is also named John. I believe John was born in South Carolina about the year of 1786. I do have a Census record sent to me by Delbert Brooksher of Kansas. The Census is dated 1870 and is from Polk County Tennessee. Head of household is James Brooksher, married to Lucindia {Cash} Brooksher. I have located Lucindia's grave and the name is spelled Brookshier. Searching for the Cemetery for James (John) and Jasper. Jasper is buried at Council Cemetery in Lexington OK, but cannot locate the Cemetery. Far as I know most of the Brooksher's came from Polk County Tennessee, Arkansas, North Carolina, South Carolina & Texas Would like to share any information about the Brooksher Family. Also researching the name Cash, D-Armon, Anglin & Burnes.
