|Dia duit! (Irish Gaelic for "Hello!")|
My name is LES CAVIN and I am seeking any information about the CAVIN family in the Gaston Co./Iredell Co./Rowan Co./Alexander Co/Lincoln Co. areas of NC, and SC also. Well...really just about anywhere.I have Family in the Spartanburg, SC area and have found descendants in the Taylorsville/Hiddenite, Mt. Holly, McAdenville, Stanley, Gastonia, Statesville, and Troutman areas of NC, plus other areas. I'd love to have correspondence re: CAVIN's in these areas or anywhere else a CAVIN might be found.
My 3rdGGF is ROBERT CAVIN, and was born around c.1775(?).He settled near Hiddenite, NC late c.1700's(?)and married the former SUSANNAH (SUSIE) HAINES.I have been told that her Father was RALPH HAINES, but this is unconfirmed yet.Children include: ZIZA GATES CAVIN, SALLIE CAVIN TUCKER, WILLIAM H. CAVIN and ROBERT WINSTON CAVIN.
I think that my 3rdGGF, ROBERT CAVIN (or his Father), may have moved from PA to VA(?) before settling in NC, but I have no proof of this, too, as of yet.
I first broke ground for this, my very first home page,22 Mar 97. Unfortunately, it will probably still be under construction when future CAVIN's are researching The CAVIN Family Tree. Maybe not...but please bear with me as I embark on my Grand Adventure...Researching the History of the "CAVIN Family". (might have more luck at finding King Brian's Pot of Gold...a little humor) [:<D
I will share, as I hold cherished, any and all information that I might have. Many, many thanks go out to the late Mr. Walter Marsh Cavin, Sr., who laid the ground work for this research endeavor, and who's initial work has been invaluble in establishing this CAVIN Family Tree. Also, many thanks go out to Mr. Walter Marsh Cavin, Jr., who so graciously allowed me to review his fathers' notes, pictures and CAVIN Family genealogy data.I would also like to extend thanks to my Uncle, Dr. William Pinckney Cavin, Sr. (deceased), who gave assistance to Walter Marsh Cavin, Sr. during his research efforts. Also, many thanks are given to my second Cousin, Michael Cavin, who has been invaluable in collaborating in this research .
Tapadh leibh, Sláinte! Thank you and Best Regards,
