Maurice E. "Bill" Thompson, 85, Indianapolis, died Friday. Services will be at 11 A.M. Tuesday in Cramer-Shoemaker Funeral Home, Waynetown, with calling from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. Monday. He had been a farmer and horse breeder in Newtown before retiring. He was a member of Newtown Presbyterian Church. He was the widower of Ruth R. Pogue Thompson.
Survivors are son Charles L. "Tommy" Thompson; daughter Charlotte Litzelman; brothers, Carl and Kenneth Thompson; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Wingate, Jan. 30- Monday evening, in the presence of a few relatives, the wedding of Miss Ruth Pogue of Newtown to Maurice Thompson, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Thompson, took place. Rev. G. P. Burdon performed the ceremony at the M. E. parsonage. The young couple spent the remainder of the evening with relatives at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Marmaduke. They will live on the Thompson farm, Mr. and Mrs. Thompson having moved to Wingate this week and will live with Mrs. Thompson's mother.

The cemetery that they are buried at is listed on the Richland Township map as the Old Baptist Cemetery and is located on a county road off SR55 about a mile southwest of Newtown in Richland Township, Fountain County, Indiana. There is no sign post at the cemetery that lists the name of the cemetery and the church is no longer there.

Catherine M. Cresswell, 67, of 10 School St. was pronounced dead on arrival Monday at Oneida City Hospital after becoming ill at her home.
A native of Arlington, Va., Mrs. Cresswell lived in Vernon 37 years. She was a registered nurse and retired from Oneida City Hospital in 1982.
Mrs. Cresswell was a deacon of Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church and served on the Presbyteria. She also was a member of the Vernon Historical Society, the Monday Club and the American Association of Retired Persons. She was a former member of the board of the Vernon Library and the Iuka Rebekah Lodge 555.
Her husband, Richard, died in 1979.
Surviving are a son, Richard Jr. of Tampa, Fla.; two daughters, Sharon Simzer of Vernon and June Cresswell of St. Petersburg, Fla.; her mother, Marie Meinberg of Arlington, Va.; a sister, Barbara Wrenn of Arlington; a brother, Richard Meinberg of Maryland; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 A.M. Thursday in Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Clinton.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Wednesday at Malecki Funeral Home, 23 Front St.
Contributions may be made to the Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
