Three Gatens brothers (known) James, Patrick, and William emigrated to the States from Ireland via Scotland. James' family settled in Cincinnati, Ohio then moved west into Iowa. Patrick and William became miners in West Virginia.

The sons of the Delaware revolutionary John Dewees and his wife Mary Updegrove, left Fayette County after the death of their parents. John Jr. and family moved to Darke County, Ohio and Indiana. Joshua moved to Mason County WV. Samuel and William Dewees and families moved into Jackson County, WV. Isaac Updegrove Dewees, the youngest moved into Gilmer County. Samuel and William's families settled into the Parchment Valley area of Jackson County, near the family of William Casto and his wife Susanna Rollins. Many of these children married into the Dewees families.

James Robert Dewees, son of Benjamin Casto Dewees and Grace Casto, born March 29, 1850. James married Florence Marcella Sisson, June 21, 1874 in Mason County, West Virginia. He died January 12, 1927 in Kanawha County, WV.

Ann Dewees was the daughter of William Dewees and Rachel Battin. She was born in 1815 and lived to be over 100. When she was in her 90's she would often walk from Leon, WV (her home) to Point Pleasant, almost 12 miles. She married William Robert Casto, the son of William Casto and Susanna Rollins.

John P. Oyler was born June 24, 1817 in Chambersburg, PA and died Jan 2, 1900. He was the son of Phillip and Mary Oyler. He was the great grandson of Johan Georg Euler who emigrated from Eckartshausen, Germany to Philadelphia aboard the vessel "Townsend". John P. Oyler was the father of Mary Elizabeth Oyler who married Fredrick E. Lincks.
