Jesse was born in the Ball Creek Community in Pickens County, GA.In the early 1900's as a young lad his family moved to the D. Andrew Thompson Renter farm about a mile from Hinton, Ga in wester Pickens County.Big Scarecorn Creek ran by the house they lived in and they ran the Thompson Corn Mill for Thompson and dit other farm jobs that came available on the farm.
Jesse Dean and his brothers and sisters went to Hinton School, a little country school about a mile from their home in Hinton, GA. Jesse Dean's Father, Jim, bought the Thompson farm where they lived on January 1, 1912.They moved the family to the larger home across the road from where they lived.Jesse lived the rest of his single life here, helping his family with all the farm work, operating a corn mill, cotton gin, and planner mill, saw mill and a kiln for the public.He helped do the farm work in the fields on the farm to grow cotton, corn, and hay.Jesse also helped with the big garden they had on the farm, taking care of the cow, mules, hogs, and other farm chores.
Jesse J. Dean, a young tall handsome 21 year old man met Lilla Mae Goodson, a beautiful young lady almost 17 years old, born November 23, 1901.They were married on October 13, 1918 in Pickens County, GA.
Jesse and Lilla had the following children.
1.H. V. Dean born September 17, 1919 in Pickens County, GA and died June 12, 1921 in Pickens County, GA from complications of the flu,The doctor's at the time didn't have medications to help fight off the flu virus.He was buried at Friendship baptist CHurch Cemetery inthe Ludville Community, Pickens County, GA.

Jesse and Lila moved to Miami in 1925.Jesse worked as a carpenter for a large company.He would work on all types of jobs,
churches, houses, buildings, factories.
Lila was a wonderful homemaker.She was a seamstress, did sewing for the public and took care of her children.One group she did sewing for was the Sweet Adeline's. A singing group of ladies usually over 60 years old.She made their dresses all alike for them to wear when they sang and performed on the stage.She was so pleased to see the dressed in the clothes she had made for them.This made their group look so good.She often showed a picture of the Sweet Adeline's dressed alike in the clothing she had made for them.After Jesse retired Lila did sewing for the Sweet Adelines to make extra money so they could come to Jasper, Pickens County, GA and spend time with their relatives there.
Lila called for here letter where she was a member at Friendship Baptist Church because it was too far for her to come to church from Miami, FL.On Spetember 20, 1941, after preaching by Rev. P. H. Johnson and L. T. Blackwell the Friendship Baptist Church in Ludville, Ga met in Conference and a motion was made to grant Sister Lila Goodson Dean a letter of dismission.Signed by Rev L. T. Blackwell, Moderator and H. O. Brendel, Church Clerk.
Lila deposited her letter and became a member of the First Baptist Church, Miami, FL.
After Jesse retired in 1966 they moved from Miami where they had lived for 41 years to Penellas Park, FL and bought a home.It wasn't as far for them to come to Jasper every summer and spend time visiting his sisters and brothers and all their relatives that lived in the Jasperarea.SOmetimes they would stay a few weeks with his sister Lola Thomason during the summer and visit the relatives and go to the revivals that ran during the summer months.The relatives looked forward to their visits because they were always happy, lovable and a joy to be around.
Jesse and Lila celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on October 13, 1978.
Their four children, Mr and Mrs Fred L. Dean, Mr and Mrs Jesse J. Dean, JR, Mr and Mrs Bill Staton, Mr. and Mrs Roy Gerald Dean along with their nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and nine step-grandchildren attended the recepton held at the First Baptist Church of Pinellas Park, FL.Also in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Troy E. Dean, and Mrs Bob Holcomb of Jasper, GA.
The Dean's have resided in Pinellas Park for the past twelve years.Prior to moving there, they resided in Miami, FL for 41 years and in Jasper, GA for the first seven years of their married live.
In 1983, Jesse and Lila decided to move back to Pickens County, GA so he could be near his brothers and sisters.They rented the Gober Murphy house on Hwy 53 about a half mile from his sister, Lola Thomason.While living there, they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary at their home on October 13, 1983.They lived in the Murphy house for a while then moved to Mosley Heights apartments.They loved to live there because they didnt have any lawn to mow or any outside chores to do.Some of their relatives also lived in the apartments. Jesse could walk to town to get his exercise and meet friends.Lila's health began to fail her and she passed away August 18, 1985.
