- Wilmer McLean house "The Surrender House" (24 KB)
The Mclean home in the village of Appomattox Court House, Virginia was used on April 9th 1865 for the surrender meeting between General Robert E. Lee, C.S.A. and Lt. General Ulysses S. Grant, U.S.A. I think the Ruby in the photo is Ruby N. Robinson Corse, the 2nd wife of Kenneth Malcom Corse, younger brother of Alvin Corse); Fifth from left is Kenneth Malcolm Corse (5th child of Arthur & Estelle LeSuer Corse, younger brother to Ralph LeSuer & Alvin Herbert Corse). after 1921 but before February 1927 when gg grandmother Estelle Corse died.If the picture was taken in 1924, Alvin would be forty yrs old, which looks about right. In 1924 Rosa Corse would have been 49 years old.She appears to be younger than Alvin, but apparently she preserved her youthfulness.
