I am presently trying to research my mother's side of the family. Her name is DOREEN FREDA GORTON (born 22 August 1936). She married George Richard de Castro and I am their only son, Robert Richard Stephen de Castro.
My mother's father was FREDERICK GEORGE GORTON (born 3 October 1903) who lost contact by 1940, when she was four years old. Nothing much is known about him except that at the time of his death in September 1972 he was living at 143 Holland Road, Kensington, London. I think that he was a pupil at Dulwich College, and may have had past family connections with the Weston-Super-Mare area.
Her mother is DOROTHY MIRIAM POLLARD (born 3 April 1906).
Her grandfather on her mother's side was GEORGE POLLARD, a shopkeeper (Burnt Ash Supply Stores) and ice cream seller in Bromley, Kent. He was married to CLARA AMY BROWNING. They had five daughters and one son.
If anyone can offer further information about any of these surnames, or any other relevant research (especially details about my grandfather, FREDERICK GORTON), I would be very pleased to hear from you.
