Elijah Wright took part in the Revolutionary War as the Captain of the militia company from Wethersfield.The company took part in the battle at White Plains, New York among other actions.According to Connecticut Colonial Records Vol. 15, in December, 1775 the Connecticut Assembly appointed "Elijah Wright to be lieutenant of the first company or trainband in the sixth regiment in this Colony."

In a deed dated February 5, 1787 Elijah Wright of Wethersfield CT reveived one hundred and sixty pounds from Ezekiel Williams, also of Wethersfield for property bordered ,..."the highway...land of Rev John Marsh .....land of B. Latimer and land of Ebenezer Balch ... together with the Dwelling House in which I now Live..." Signed by Elijah Wright.Witnessed by Eziekel Williams Jr and another Williams [possibly Wm) who served as JP.The document was for sale on eBay in July 2006 and measures 13 x 8.Ezekiel Williams, of Wethersfield, was the son to the Rev. Dr. Solomon Williams, of Lebanon and was a highly distinguished man who held many distinguished civil and military offices, during the period of the American Revolution including for many years, High Sheriff of the county.

According to Wethersfield records, Elijah Wright had a "negro servant, Phillis," who died December 25, 1794 at the age of 55.Elijah Wright's second wife, Penelope (Wells) Wright died on March 4, 1826.Elijah and both his wives are buried in the church yard of First Congregational Church in Wethersfield.

Notes for Ichabod Chapman III: Ichabod Chapman was born about 1758 probably in Colchester, New London Co., Connecticut and fought in the American army during the Revolutionary War.As a civilian, he was a farmer.He apparently lived in Woodbridge, Colchester, New London Co., Connecticut at the time of the 1790 US Census.According to the June 8, 1805 Colchester town records Ichabod Chapman, Jr.took the mark "which was Stephen Buckwith viz. a crop the underside of each ear." In 1818 he moved to Genesee Co., New York, near Batavia, and started a new farm.He died there about 1830, at the age of eighty-five years.One of his sons was Amasa D. Chapman, born in Colchester, Connecticut on November 11, 1796.He spent his life mostly as a farmer, but during his young manhood, he was a teacher.He graduated at Bacon's Academy in Connecticut in 1816 and went to Genesee Co., New York with his father.In 1835 he was commissioned Captain of militia by the Governor of that state.He moved to Michigan in 1837 and settled on a farm in Oakland Co.This farm he cultivated until the spring of 1855, when he moved to Cumberland Co., Kentucky, remaining there four and a half years and then returning to Oakland Co., where he died December 4, 1882.He was greatly interested in the education of the young, and for twenty-one consecutive years was Moderator in his school district.He was the father of nine children by Hannah L.
