John Doan (son of James Doan and Mary Ann Woolsey) was born February 21, 1802 in South Carolina, and died January 24, 1865 in Iuka, Tishomingo Co., Mississippi.He married Martha Coburn on March 21, 1825 in Lauderdale Co., Alabama45, daughter of Headley Coburn. Notes for John Doan: As a young man, John migrated to northern Alabama and Mississippi, finally settling near Corinth. In later years, he occupied a position of some prominence within Old Tishomingo. He was listed as deputy sheriff in three different administrations and was appointed county school commissioner 1860-62.
