3795.Jane EVANS(?), born ca 1642 in Wales; died 1703 in Philadelphia, PA.
Notes for Ellis JONES:
The Jones family came from either Denby or Flint, Wales. They sailed to America on the Submission, the last of the 23 ships which brought Quakers to Pennsylvania in 1682.The Submission sailed on September 6, 1682, but unfortunately for the passengers, landed on Chesapeake Bay instead of Philadelphia. On October 19 they had noticed the smell of pine trees and on November 2 landed at Choptank on Maryland's Eastern shore.(Capt. James Settle didn't keep a log for the last days of the voyage; it's quite likely that he didn't know where he was.)Left to get to Pennsylvania on their own, most of the passengers walked about 40 miles to Appoquinimink, the lowest section of New CAstle County, and 20 miles from the town of New Castle.Ellis Jones, along with several other passengers, lived in Bucks County, PA in 1684.He was listed among the servants aborad the Submission and was called "the Govern's miller" when he sold 20 acres to Richard Miles in Radnor Township, Bucks County.(Date not known.)Ellis is listed as a weaver of Nantele in a survey of Radnorshire land owners; he is credited with 100 acares.Another record lists himas buying land in Chester County.
A curious record from the Philadelphia MM grants permission to Ellis Jones and Jane Jones to marry.(Ellis Jones LMT Jane Jones - left to marry.)Jane's will, filed in Philadelphia, left a shilling to grandchildren Zebulon, Joseph and Dorothy Cantrill.

Notes for William LANE:
William Lane, the ancestor of the Lane families, whose record will be found in the following pages, was a resident
of Boston, Mass in 1651. He was admitted freeman at that place May 6, 1657. Regarding himself or his
connections we know nothing further, save the names and time of birth of his children, which are found on the
Boston records. Tradition, however, he was of English origin, and also that a brother settled in Beverly or
Gloucester and another in Maine. Further research may establish or disprove the authenticity of this tradition.
There were others of the name of Lane in this country at an early period.
From the Boston records we learn that the first wife of William Lane was named Mary. She died May 2, 1656, and
he married, Aug. 21, 1656, Mary, daughter of Thomas Brewer, of Roxbury.

admitted freeman there May 6, 1657. Lane Genealogies lists his occupation as a cordwainer. He was married
