CORNELIUS DORSEY was born in South Carolina in 1799. We do not know who his parents were, which county he resided or his spouses name. We do know that he had 3 sons. John Adams D. and Henry Mitchell D. were born in South Carolina also. Henry on April 21, 1819. Cornelius loaded up the family sometime before 1823 and moved to Alabama where George Hardin D. was born on Jan.20,1823. We know there is a census listing for a Cornelius Dorsey in Pickens county in 1830 but have not been able to obtain the actual record as of yet for confirmation. Sometime before 1846 the family, at least the 3 boys, moved to Mississippi where Henry married Mary Elizabeth Jackson on Nov.5,1846 in Carroll County. George, not to be outdone, married Mary McKay also in Carroll the following month, Dec.31,1846.
Henry moved before the war to East Texas and sometime later George moved also settling his family in Fannin County. My line extends from Henry Mitchell to his son Isaam Jackson to Isaac Cornelius. Isaac (papa Dorsey) married Jessie Quillin (mama)on Nov.2, 1909. They were blessed with 7 children, one of whom, Ray Howard, is my father. Any help in reference to the above names and especially Cornelius is appreciated and welcomed.
