During the 19th century the ancestors of the modern Dorf and Shershow families resided within European Jewish communities. The ancestors of Judith Shershow arrived in the U.S. from Eastern Europe at the turn of the 20th century. The parents of Martin Dorf fled Vienna, Austria and Rexingen, Germany before World War 2. Most relatives that remained in Europe were lost during the Holocaust.
The 20th and 21st centuries brought assimilation of these families into the American fabric and across the continent.
