OBITUARY:
Thomas I. Dougherty, 62, succumbed at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Litchfield Hospital following an emergency operation for stomach obstruction the previous day.Funeral services were conducted Monday morning from St. Phillip's Catholic Church with interment in Calvary Cemetery.Rev Murphy officiated.Pallbearers were Dennis Finnegan, Louis Schultz, Thomas O'Keefe, Ed McGraw, William Mitchell, and Carl Konietzko.Friends and relatives from Montevideo, Fairmount, Minneapolis, St. Cloud, Atwater, and Eden Valley attended the funeral services.
Born December 2, 1877, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Dougherty, of Harvey, he spent his youth in Harvey, homesteading in 1907 in Canada, where he developed one of the finest farms at this time.He had been residing with his brother, John R. Dougherty in Harvey since his mother's death two years ago.Mr. Dougherty had a genial disposition and will be missed by many.
Surviving are three brothers, Edward of Hollywood, California, John R. of Litchfield, and Frank of Fairmount; two sisters, the Misses Marion and Grace Dougherty of Minneapolis, an aged aunt, Mrs. John Dougherty, 83, the first white woman born in Meeker Co., who now is living at Montevideo.She was able to attend the funeral.
Pallbearers were Dennis Finnegan, Louis Schultz, Thomas O'Keefe, Ed McGraw, William Mitchell and Carl Konietzko.
Friends and relatives from Montevideo, Fairmount, Minneapolis, St. Cloud, Atwater and Eden Valley attended the funeral services.
