Letter from Marie Hatrick around late 1994
My cousin, Don Miller, who lives in Texas tells me I take the honors ofbeing the best gardner in the family (I don't have any competition); I really have enjoyed my flower and garden.
I have my three children Marion, Shirley and paul and my grandchildren Cindy, Laurie, Jon, Angie, Jason and Aaron and my great-grandchildren Jullie and Brennen in my life.I am proiud of them and I love them very much.I also have three nieces, Connie, Janie, and Alice who are very dear to me.
Earl passed away April 12, 1982 and I miss so much.
I catered for over fourty years and I still cater but not as much as I used to.I have done the Community Club dinner every month for the Twine Ball City (Darwin) for 13 years. I have enjoyed this work so much.
I am still living in my home. Sometimes I think about selling it but in 1960 Earl and I bought if for $1500 and we made the house over to our liking and we have the big garden and lawn many berrie plants and apple tree and so on .I don't want to give it up.I has to many memories.I don't get to see my twin Sister Dorothy often. She has her big family and they travel a lot.
I have enjoyed so many things in my life.
Connie's comments about, Marie, at the age of 78, not only still caters, but takes orders and makes a minimun of 700 (seven hundred) dozed Christmas cookies, as well as fruit cakes and pies. She has a huge garden and uses all of her crop for canning and freezing for her catering operation
