The Bickels and Browns trace through Lancaster, Dauphin and Lebanon Counties in Pennsylvania to Augusta, Botetourt, Montgomery, and Wythe Counties in Virginia, and on to Gallia County, Ohio.The Chappells came from England in the 1600s to Virginia, eventually settling in Princess Anne County (Virginia Beach)and on to Wythe County and Grayson County, Virginia and Wilkes (subsequently Ashe and Allegheny) County in North Carolina.
The Wise family eventually ended up in Nelson County, North Dakota. John Wise, the progenitor, was born some place in Pennsylvania in 1785.There is dispute as to whether he was of German or English parentage.He is known to have lived in York County, Pennsylvania, and Harford County, Maryland before moving on to Belmont County, Ohio in 1810.His son, Henry, settled in Gallia County, Ohio, and from there on to Nelson County, North Dakota.
The MacMillans first stop out of Scotland was Dublin, Ireland.After about 10 to 15 years it was on to Cecil County, Maryland, York County, Pennsylvania, Harford, County, Maryland and finally to Belmont County, Ohio.
Hans Ona came to America in 1901.At Ellis Island he used the surname, Lien.His wife, Gudrun Langseth, came in 1908.Both settled in Nelson County, North Dakota.Nels Elvick immigrated in 1879 to Worth County, Iowa, and then on to Nelson County North Dakota.He used the surname, Hansen, only on the 1880 census.
