Serkosky - Madden Family TreeUpdated August 25, 2005
As I start out on this project, I am most interested in my father,William Serkosky's, Lithuanian lineage because we do not have much information about it.Thanks to Joyce Shew, my second cousin, for all of her hard work on our family tree.I found her work online and it is awesome, but it needs updating.I am willng to help her out with that project.I hope to trace our genealogy back to Lithuania further than has been done.I am interested in learning more about Lithuania and hopefully travelling there someday to do more research and learn about the culture.
My mother, Mary Margaret Madden's, Irish family tree has been extensively researched I am told.I don't remember the name of the person who did it.If anyone knows, please let me know.I would like to have that family tree as well.
If you see any information that is incorrect or incomplete, please feel free to email me!
Here is an article entitled "Why Pennsylvania" that describes the Lithuanian immigration to Pennsylvania in the 1800's:
Another good site for Lithuanian research:
- Lithuanian flag (1 KB)
The first of the former SSRs to break decisively with Moscow, Lithuania adopted its old tricolour as its official state flag in March 1989. Like the other Baltic states, and indeed, the other captive nations of the former USSR, the flag had been used during Lithuania's previous period of independence from Russia - from 1918 to 1940. In the flag, yellow stands for grain, green for forests, and red for the blood shed in defense of the nation.
