New photos say "NEW" so you can tell which ones they are.
Wow, I can't believe it's been a whole year since I updated.
I lost my father, John Deniston, last April after 4-5 months of illness.I went out to Oregon a couple of times to assist with his care and to make arrangements and to give support to my mother. We vacationed in Florida in January/February (cut short by a sudden trip to Oregon), then went to the southwest in order to see the incredible desert wildflowers (Death Valley full of water; we canoed through the Topock Gorge on the Colorado River; visited Organ Pipe N. M. and did our favorite hike in the Superstition Mtns). Then back to Oregon during my father's final illness.
In late June, we took a wonderful trip to Alaska, doing an Alaskan Railroad package plus a cruise from Seward to Vancouver, B.C.It was phenomenal, just gorgeous scenery and we were blessed with mostly good weather.
Summer brought all sorts of family and friends, including my former mother-in-law Betsy, sister-in-law Katharine and her daughter Christina; my sister Peggy; my sister-in-law Jody and our good friends the Petersens and David Sironen. We were also in 6 performances of G. & S. HMS Pinafore, Sandy as the Carpenter's Mate and myself 3 performances as Cousin Hebe.It was such fun, but very hot. Then in September my German daughter Anni arrived for several weeks, and immediately afterwards, we left to drive to Iowa to bury my father's ashes and then to continue onward to Oregon to visit my mom. It's a big country!
Currently we are singing in two choral groups (Sandy in three) and playing in a string orchestra, not to mention church choirs.I've been doing a lot of quilting, finished Kim's and Anni's quilts and all the blocks for Pam's, now I'm working on Christmas gifts and placemats.Lots to do.
I plan to make a quilt out of my father's ties, there were many and it would give us all something to remember him by.
Family research is still focused on looking for Jonathan Chaney (Cheney/Chanay), Jonathan Hagar I, and Henry Paul, three of mydead-end ancestors about whose parentage I know very little if anything.I received a whole bunch of material about my paternal grandfather and hope to put together a better picture of his life in the near future.
