|The Blick family was a strong pioneering family of a Protestant faith. This family history starts with Thomas Blick from Gloucestershire, England. He was a weaver by trade.Thomas Blick came to New Zealand on the "Indus" in 1843 with his family. They settled in Nelson and later his sons, Enoch and William moved to the Marlborough area.Thomas Blick and his daughter Hannah were founding member of the Nelson Baptist church.Thomas Blick was also a deacon in this church. He was believed to be a Rechabite.Thomas set up a business providing cloth for the early pioneers. It later became more succesful, after many trials.|
They settled in Nelson and became a very sucessful family owning much land in the Nelson and later the Marlborough Provinces of New Zealand. We are currently working towards publishing a book about the Blick family here in New Zealand. It is a long process, that needs lots of editing.
I am also researching the following families, Stewart, Ford, Leslie, Parkes, Squire, Varney, Wiblin, Fielding, Hemingway, Maynard, Clack, Brind, McCall, Bowker, Chisholm, Gifford, Atkinson, Brown, Ives, Gardiner, Hart and Barclay. Please contact me if i can you want more information on any of these families that lived in the Nelson-Marlborough region of New Zealand.
If you have information on these families, or more importantly if you would like to contribute information to the Blick family research, please feel free to contact me.
