In a letter dated December 29, 1838 to a Mrs. J. T. Wood of Bluefield, WV,P. D. Fallow, Chief, Record Division,General Accounting Office in Washington, DC, wrote that Josiah MEADOW was a pensioner of the Revolutionary War, certificate number 2123, Virginia Agency.He served as a volunteer from 1778 until the closing days of the Revolutionary War.He served under Capt. Joseph Renfro, Capt. Isaac Taylor, and Col. James Montgomery. He also served in the Illinois Company under Lt. Col. George Rogers Clark.
