|Searching for history and ancestors of FINE family, from Olkeniki, Lithuania (30 miles SW of Vilna). Some family members migrated to USA in late 1800's. Family name always spelled FINE, or variants thereof (e.g. FEIN). In Hebrew, Fay-Yud-Nun or Fay-Yud-Yud-Nun.Earliest known ancestor is Eber (or Moses) FINE, born circa 1850 in Olkeniki; wife Genesse KALVARIYSKY, from Varena, Lithuania, and children came to USA about 1900. Children were Louie (b. abt 1870), Max (b. abt. 1883), Dave (b. abt. 1886), Rebecca (m. Abraham GORDON), and Rose (m. Benjamin KATZ). Some family members lived in Westchester County, NY, in early 1900's, others in Manhattan or Brooklyn.|
Also looking for information on BAKSTANSKY, primarily in Belarus in 1800's or earlier. Information on BAKSTANSKY in any other countries is welcome: there were a few in England in 1900's and possibly two BAKSTANSKY (women) migrated from Minsk to South Africa about 1899.
