|In the late 1970's, when I was still in high school, my grandfather, Asher Reynolds FINK, put together a book entitled "Fink Genealogy".I'd never thought about my "roots" until then. He, along with the research of his aunt, Elsie Fink McCullough, traced our paternal line back to Andreas FINCK, who with his wife and son, Christian, arrived in New York with the second group of Palatine refugees in 1709.Even as a seventeen year old I appreciated the effort it took to acquire this information. In his book he stated that he hoped an "interested Fink" would someday continue his work.I vowed then that I would be that "interested Fink".As with all seventeen year olds, life kind of got in the way for a while.A few years ago I read a article in a magazine that once again inspired me to continue my grandfather's work.I've decided to not only retrace the Fink line but also all my other lines as well.I've been told that I have to draw a line somewhere, but so far I haven't figured out where that should be.|
The families that I am researching are; any FINK/FINCK descending from Andreas and/or Christian of the Mohawk Valley, Palatine, Stone Arabia, New York.DARLING, ancestors of James (6 Dec 1820 - 1902) of Albee Twp., Saginaw Co., Michigan, son of James P. and Susannah (PIERSON) of Livingston Co., New York. McBRIDE, ancestors and descendents of Robert, born in 1814, married Caroline J. DAVIDS, daughter of John and Hager, died in Caledonia Twp., Shiawassee Co., Michigan, 20 Mar 1879.FERRIS, ancestors and descendents of Schuyler, born 22 Feb 1818 in New York, married Amanda D. HOBART, died 18 Feb 1892 in Caledonia Twp., Shiawassee Co., Michigan.
Help with any of these names would be much appreciated.
