Nicolas Fontaine b.1840, Belgium. children: Dominic b1867,Peter b1877,John b.1879,Barbara b1875, Mary b1864,Elizabeth b1873,Jeanette b1869.other families connected: Barnich, Clevenger, Ernster.
Both families resided in and around Port Washington, Wisconsin
after emmigrating in 1846.The records are sparse for several years prior to 1777, but go back to 14th century.I am still trying to fill in the blanks. Have good data from 1777, including the Knaff family crest, issued by John the Blind in 1321 in Luxembourg.
The hunt continues.
