Death of Fred Fasse
Fred Fasse, long resident of the Minier vicinity, passed away at his home here at noon Saturday following a lingering illness of two years.He had, however, only been bedfast and critically ill for one week.
Mr. Fasse, the son of Fred and Wilhelmina Freitag Fasse, was born in Germany, Sept. 10, 1861.He was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical and Reformed church.At the age of 19 years he came to America, settling in the Minier vicinity where he had since resided.On Feb. 15, 1887, he was married to Elizabeth Schroeder at the Schroeder homestead near Minier.Mrs. Fasse died Aug. 6, 1938, having been seriously ill only one week.Soon after her death their daughter, Mrs. Earl Kinsinger and her family moved to the Fasse home to care for her father.
There were four children, one son, Homer, who died in November, 1936, from the effects of injuries received in a tractor accidend; three daughters, Mrs. Harry (Iva) Loeffler, of Macinaw; Mrs. Earl (Verna) Kinsinger and Mrs. Morris (Velma) Brenneman of Minier.Surviving also are eight grandchildren; Frederick Loeffler Peoria, Charles Loeffler, Mackinaw; Guilford Fasse, Rex and Donald Kinsinger, Robert and Kay Brenneman Minier; Two Brothers Gustav and William of Minier; and two sisters in Germany.
Funeral services were conducted from the home Monday afternoon with Rev. W. A. Mueller of St. John's church officiating.Mrs. Glen Thomas, accompanied by Miss Wilhelmine Peine, sang "Abide With Me" and "Rock of Ages"The pallbearers were W. W. Peine, Menno Keim, V. R. Snider, Fred Freitag, Richard Schroeder, Streator, and Emory Schroeder, of Mackinaw.Burial was in the Minier Cemetery.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Schroeder and son Richard of Streator and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schroeder of Mackinaw, attended the services.
