Obituary from The West Union Association United Baptists' Minutes
Juliann Margaret Chambers, born January 10, 1840, departed this life December 16, 1912. She obtained a hope in Christ and joined the Baptist Church in 1857. She was a pious member of New Salem Church and walked orderly all her days. Often times she would shout the praises of God in her kitchen, She was a good mother and told her children not to grieve about her: she was going home to rest. We greatlymiss her. She leaves a husband and six children to mourn her absence. The children belong to the Church save one and are marching to Heaven. We hope they all will meet and live with Mother in Heaven.

Francis Marion traveled to Missouri in 1857 by horseback. He had accidently killed his brother, Jeremiah, with a knife. Jeremiah and Fielding Pennington were in a fight. FM struck at Fielding with a knife, stabbing Jeremiah instead. Jeremiah died in December, 1857.

Julia moved to Missouri with her parents about 1856.Julia and FM married in 1858. They remained in Missouri for the first few years of their marriage
While in Missouri, Francis enlisted in the Confederate army. The fact that he fought for the Confederecy is mentioned in his brotherJohn's application to the Southern Claims Commission.

After his discharge, he returned to Missouri, where Emily was born. FM and Julia livedin Arkansas in 1867 where Louanner was born . They finally returning to Scott County TN by 1869where they remained until they died.
FM served as Postmaster of the Bowl post office from 7/20/1894 to 8/1/1899. His son Jacob M was appointed to replace him.
