18 April 2010 SAD NEWSWe just received word of the passing our Vladimir Fucich, Jr. yesterday, April 17, 2010. All we know so far is:
Vladimir Theodore Fucich, Jr., age 83 and a resident of Ponchatoula, LA, died on Saturday, April 17, 2010, in Ponchatoula. Funeral arrangements were handled by the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 9113 Kiln DeLisle Road in Pass Christian. For more information, please call (228)586-0510.
We will post more and we know more.Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
21 Aug. 2009Was just able to connect with the grand daughter of Edwin Fucich and Beth tells me that she will be sharing pictures of Uncle Edwin and hiw wife along with their only son, Lee Fucich, Sr. and wife.Looking forward to receiving them and posting some on this site.
2/12/2009 SAD NEWS, Our Cousin Noelie Dick Crosslin got her Angel Wings today:
Noelie Francis Crosslin, 75, of Sparta, passed away Feb. 12, 2009.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Narcisse Mark and Virgile Fucich Dick; son, James Crosslin; and sister, Rosemary Holmes.
June 2008:With the help of a new found 2nd cousin and her mother, we have been able to find out what happened to Blasius Fucich, brother of my Great Grandtather Simeone M. Fucich, Sr.For years we have seached for Blasius, aka: Blaze, but never found why he left no tracks after 1888.Sheryl told us that he was killed by a lighting bolt on May 28, 1888. She even sent us a copy of the newspaper article.Thank You Sheryl and daughter Jenelle for coming into our lives.
We will have lot more family data to post at a later date.
SIMEONE M. FUCICH, SR. arrived in Louisiana or Mississippi in 1867 from Mali Losinj, Croatia where he lived with his uncle Antonio in Mississippi for two years.He and his uncle moved to New Orleans in 1869 or 1870.Brothers, Blazich, Francis, Peter, and John arrived in Louisiana sometime in the next couple of years.Simeone married Caliste Martinez in Donaldsonville, La. in August 1874.They moved to New Orleans, where he opened Fucich and Sons Seafood Shop at 530 to 532 Dumaine St.He also owned property in the Pointe-a-la-hache area.He had the Nestor Canal dug and the Fucich Bayou is named after him.

Today, Roberta Leah Lienhard Fucich has gone to heaven to be with her husband, our father, Simeon M. Fucich, III.The two of them, I am sure, are looking down at all of us, wondering how they were able to raise all five of us and to keep their sanity.You all have a good time together, we love and miss you.

This picture of Simeone M. Fucich, Sr., who came to America in 1867 at age 14 from Mali Losinj, Croatia. This picture taken about 1912, and he is in his 60's. A leader and trend setter for all of the future Fucich's.

Simeone Anthony Fucich, father of our Simeone M. Fucich, Sr. carved 22 marble columns in Mali Losinj in 1883 for this Catholic church. They were shipped to New Oleans, then put on a barge and sent up the Mississippi river to Donaldsonville where they were unloaded across the street from the church. This is a MUST SEE.

This picture was taken about 1920's and he was in his 40's.A well known and respected citizen of the New Orleans, Louisiana area. He married Clemence Jaubert in New Orlenans on April 22, 1908.

Cousin Sime Fucic of Mali Losinj took us to our Great-great grandfathers grave and tomb at St. Martin's Church & Cemetery in Mali Losinj, Croatia.

This house, which is still standing today was the home that Simeone & Caliste purchased on December 16, 1891.Caliste continued to live in it until about 1921 when she sold it.Being a widow and no children at home, the house was way to large for her.This photo was taken in 2006 by me.
