Let's start at the begining with my Gallaudet family. I have always wanted to know about my Gallaudets. When I was growing up people would ask me if I was any relation to the Gallaudet College, now Gallaudet University. I didn't know.So now I have a mission to find out where I belong in the Gallaudet family. So let's hope I do this right. Well, after some research I found out I am third cousin 4times removed from Edward Minor Gallaudet.
Elisha born New Rochelle, son of Pierre Elisee Gallaudet and Jan Wilmont, married first 1755 Jeanne Dubois, Paul, son of Elisha Gallaudet and Jeanne Dubois, born June 23, 1757, died Aug. 14, 1821, age 65 years.Paul married Mar. 20,1788 Abigail Nostrand,born Mar. 1, 1770, baptized Apr. 8, 1771 died Sept. 13, 1853 in the 84th year of her age. Abigail's parents were Hannah Ketcham and Samuel Nostrand. There was another son, Gilbert Nostrand. Abigail named one of her sons after her brother, Gilbert Gallaudet.
James Nostrand son of Paul and Abigail Gallaudet born July 21, 1790, died Sept. 6, 1858 age 59 yrs. married abt 1822 Margaret White. He was a shoemaker in NYC. This family moved to Brooklyn about 1829.Both buried in Cypress Hills Cemetery.
Paul, son of James and Margaret Gallaudet born 1827-2/1/1900. Married Catherine Smith died Jan 5, 1906 at the age of 74yrs old.
George son of Paul & Catherine, 1865-10/3/1934 married Mary Morgan 1868-3/23/1908 on February 22, 1887. George, son of George and Mary, born 12/13/1894 - 10/11/1922 married Elizabeth Meagher 2/22/1894-10/11/1972. married 1916. George, son of George & Elizabeth, 2/4/1919-2/11/1064 and Maureen Swindell 3/16/1920-6/30/1994 married 12/7/1946.And then there's me Lynne, daughter of George and Maureen.
