The GARRARD FAMILY of JACOB GARRARD Sr and SARAH WATERS. Jacob b.1720 in England d. 1776 in NC often referred to as " The Immigrant" and his brothers, John and Robert emigrated to America from England. They are beleived to have entered Virgina through Norfolk and to have gone, initially to Stafford Co., VA. Jacob married abt 1755, Sarah Waters, b. abt 1725, in Baltimore MD.The names of two known children; Jacob Jr b. 1763, and The Register of Overwharton Parish shows that Anthony Garrard was baptised Feb 12, 1756. About 1757 the three brothers left Virginia for the Carolinas. Jacob settled in North Carolina and Robert and John went to South Carolina. John later went to Georgia. All three brothers, Jacob Sr, John, and Robert were killed in the Revolutionary War.
Anthony Garrard went to Wilkes Co., GA, about 1785, where he lived until his death in 1807. Anthony had married Elizabeth Green, whose mother was Lucy Titus. Anthony served in the North Carolina Continental Army during the Revolutionary War and received a grant of land for his services. He had nine children.
Jacob Garrard Jr, the fourth son of Jacob, born in 1763 and died January 29, 1854. He married Elizabeth Harris about 1785, and moved from Lincoln County, North Carolina, to Jackson County, Georgia in 1802. There were twelve (12) children.

This GARRARD FAMILY history continues it's descendents lineage with DANIEL GARRARD born abt 1809 in GA, the 12th child of Jacob Garrard Jr and Eliabeth Harris, and died abt 1857 on the Yazoo River, MS. He married Martha Bethea, June 20, 1839.There were six children.
