FOREWORD This is in response to Ray Steger Jones, my brother-in-law, who wanted me to write my memories and happenings.I remember seeing all of my grandparents.Thomas Wilson Garnett, my mother’s father, passed away on September 19, 1930.My mother’s mother lived many years after his death.She was born, lived and died in the Lockett House, which is on Lockett Road, Rice, VA.She died January 18, 1950.Both of them were buried in the cemetery at the Lockett House, and her parents are also buried there.
My daddy’s father was William Thomas Morris, born February 10, 1853 in Buckingham County near Willis Mountains.Daddy’s mother was Nannie Evelyn Borum, born June 11, 1864 in Nottoway County.They are buried at what had been the Borum Plantation in the 1800's, which is on the Dutchtown Road out of Burkeville.My father was born in Buckingham County near Willis Mountains on October 13, 1888; and Mama was born in Prince Edward County at Elmwood on the Lockett Road, Rice, VA.Both of them are buried at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Burkeville, VA.
