Notes for Elmer Paul Gaul:Elmer P. Gaul, 88, of Ottawa, died Monday, July 23, at LaSalle County Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Evangelical United Methodist Church with theRev. Douglas Williams officiating.Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery.Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Ottawa Funeral Home.
Mr. Gaul was born Jan. 31, 1913, in Ottawa, to Philip J. and Charlotte M. (Acton) Gaul.He married Leona A. Mason on July 14, 1939.
He was a member of AARP, Evangelical United Methodist Church, served on many church boards, and district offices and served with Boy Scouts of America.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Stanley (Ruth) of Ottawa and Terry of Macomb; three grandchildren, Eileen Lesak of Oswego, David Gaul of Lombard and Sherry Gaul.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Philip and Richard.
Pallbearers will be David and Rick Gaul, Scott Lesak, Kirk, Dana, and Scott Friestad, Kim Besse and Rick Mason.
Memorials may be directed to Evangelical United Methodist Church, LaSalle County Nursing Home or Ottawa Scouting Museum.
He worked 37 years at Otawa Avenue Cemetery and also at the First National Bank Plaza.

Marriage Notes for Elmer Paul Gaul and Leona Arvesta Mason:The secret marriage of Miss Leona Mason and Elmer P. Gaul, popular Ottawa young people, was announced today.
The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.V. Mason of 1425 Illinois Avenue and Mr. Gaul is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Gaul of Bridge Street.
The wedding took place July 14 in the sanctuary of First Evangelical Church in Dubuque, Ia., the Rev. E.U. Ullrich officiating.The couple was unattended.
A white dress was worn by the bride with navy accessories.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Gaul are life-long residents of this city, and attended the local grade and high schools, from which they were graduated.
They will make their home at 1517 west Madison Street.
