These records are translated from the Civil and Church records from Avigliano, Potenza, Italy.I was able to access these records using the Mormon Church's microfilmed records.Although I have experience doing genealogical research in the US,this is my first experience with Italian records and the Italian language.Luckily most records from from 1875 on were written on pre-printed forms. This made translation easier, and helped me learn the language.
Names like Caterina and Margarita have been spelled many different ways by different clerks in different time periods. In order to maintain continuity and make searches easier, names may not be entered as spelled in the records but as they are most commonly spelled.
I have tried to include source data for all information, but I'm sure I have missed some.I was able to connect many of the Gianturco's to each other using Emanuele Gianturco's informtion on his website: geocities.com/e.gianturco/tree_Gianturco.htm.
I feel confident in most of my records, but I'm sure I have made many mistakes in translation and in transcription. If you find errors, please contact me, and I will check may data.

I have spent many, many hours researching the families of Avigliano. If you include this information in your family tree, please include this database as a source.Thank you and happy searching!
