Janie Mae Goddard11010 W. 670th Rd, Hulbert, OK 74441 [email protected] am researching the descendants ofThomas Holmes, Sr. He was born in VAin 1782 and died in Aug 22 1871. He wasorphaned and married a lady who was alsoan orphan. She was Margaret Craig who wasborn in Virgina. They were both raised byan Uncle and married in Buncombe Co.,North Carolina. Margaret died in 1833 inPickens Co., Alabama after having thefollowing sons and 1 daughter: Jess(e)Siler, John Craig, Thomas Foster Jr,Amanda Jane, Julius Manderville, PaytonGrave(s), Stokely Mize, & Rufus Franklin.After Magaret died in 1833, Thomasremarried twice more. One named Jammima.And the thrid Milly. Each wife diedleaving one child. Napolean Bone(part)Holmes was one and the other's name isunkown. Supposedly each of these twochildren died leaving no children.Napolean was killed in the Civil War. Thefamily moved from Alabama to WinstonCo., Misissippi. Stokely Mize Holmes &several brothers moved to Texas inGuadalupe & Caldwell County areas tolive out brilliant lives in the Civil Warraising to the rank of Major.Stokely Mize Holmes b. Aug 21,1828 ineither VA or Al or MS d. July 28, 1905,at San Marcos, Texas. He married SusannahCaroline Eichelberger b. May 26, 1838 inSouth Carolina d. June 16, 1933 in SourLake, Hardin Co. Texas. Stokely and Suehad the following 5 sons and 2 daughters:William Peyton, Stokely Potter Sr, MaryEveline, Rufus Stonewall, Lucy Lee, JohnReed, and Robert Marvin Wallace Holmes.It is these blood lines that we areresearching and documenting. We wouldappreciate any information on the Holmeslines in Va, Al, Winston Co. Mississippi,Caldwell or Guadalupe Co. Texas. | |
