|Welcome to our Genealogy Page. My parents, Guy W. Thrap & Bonnie M. Baker Thrap, started this research many years ago and they have intrusted the information to me to continue. My mother is gone now and my father is 85.I would dearly love to be able to complete this work for him before he leaves us. My husband and I have been doing this research for many years now.We have found several "cousins" since we went online with our search. As you know this is a never ending project and more information is always welcome. If you have further information on any of these names or if we can help fill in gaps in your information please feel free to contact us.|
My maiden name was Thrap. We have information back to a Robert Thrap born in 1728, birthplace unknown. He was married in Baltimore Co., MD. to Elizabeth HILTON.He also lived in what is now WV and then finally OH.According to Isreal Thrapp, Robert's father was one of three brothers that came here from London, England. Two settled in NJ and the third (Robert's father) settled in MD.Robert's mother died either during or shortly after giving birth to Robert.Robert's father gave Robert do a couple and went back to England never to return. We don't know if the original name was Thrap or that was the name of the family that kept Robert.
I'm sure that most of you have the transcript of Isreal's dictation on the family story as he remembered it.If not let me know.
We are beginning to make headway on the Gudgeon name as well thanks to a lot of hard work by a lot of nice "Gudgeon's". Thank you all.
