Hello and welcome. My name is Sarah (Pullen) Gura and I have been researching the "northern" branch of the PULLEN family in the United States for the past 20 years. My first Pullen ancestor to reach America was Nicholas Pullen of Rehoboth, Mass.Nicholas was born in 1683 and was christened in Widworthy Parish, Devon, England. His parents were John PULLEN and Anstis DABNEY, who were married on October 24, 1682 in Widworthy.Nicholas came to America as a young man and married Mary TUCKER at Rehoboth in 1709.This couple had eight children and I have researched their descendant branches.A couple of their children went to Maine and settled. My direct branch of the Pullen family went from Mass>RI>VT>NY>Michigan.
Over the years I have collected notes on many branches, which are distant from my own, but may still be of help to another cousin or researcher. Here are some of the states where descendants of this couple have been found:
Massachusetts, Oregon, Maine, Nebraska, Michigan, California, New York, Arizona, Vermont, Alaska, Rhode Island, Minnesota, Montana, Idaho and Washington.
I'm sorry to say that I do not have any information on what I called the "southern" Pullen families and I know that there are many.I have yet to make a connection between the Pullens of the south and the Pullens of the north.
I am also researching these other surnames:ELLIOTT, WEBER, FIELD, CROSS, OSBORN, CARPENTER, BICE, RITZ, HOYT, TAYLOR and many more. Please review my complete Family History Database below for more surnames.
If you are researching your own Pullen family and would like to send or receive information on various Pullen branches, please write to me.I hope we can make a connection.I'm always pleased to find new cousins!
