Source: Soldiers of the American Revolution buried in Tennessee
In searching for any McWhirter relations in hopes of finding Isaac McWhirter's
parents, I came across the book listed above. Two McWhirters are listed as having been soldiers in the American Revolution and were buried at the time of their deaths in TN:
"Jeremiah McWhirter died in Wilson County"
" Aaron McWhorter (b c 1759) NC service age 73 in 1832 Pension List of Lincoln County, TN 1834"
Thoughts: Isaac McWhirter was probably born about 1820. If these are indeed relatives, it is more likely that they are his grandfather or granduncle.
6-20-96NOTListed in the 1870 Census for Sumner with rest of family. Probably died prior to the census.

The missing link is found! Glenda is the author of a McWhirter family history book. I am obtaining a copy to review her sources. She links Isaac with Hugh Barnett McWhorter as his father. Hugh is the son of Jeremiah, the same man listed in the entries above, whom I surmised was probably Isaac's grandfather. Henry McWhorter is listed as the father of Jeremiah, which also concurs with the information found in "Exits and Entrances" by Ura McWhorter Byars. However, the generation prior to Henry is where the question marks begin.
Glenda lists Henry and his brother (her ancestor) as son of Moses. Ura lists Henry and his brother William as brothers of Moses, not as sons. Ura goes on to list this trio (along with other siblings) as sons of George McWhorter, Sr. who is a son of Hugh McWhorter, Sr. who is a son of Reverend Alexander McWhorter, Jr. who is a son of Alexander McWhorter, Sr who died in 1641.
Until the mystery can be solved, I shall attempt to list Moses as brother AND potential parent in the "other parents" section.
