| I am researching my Family Tree originating in Bacton., Norfolk. My Great, great, great, great, great Grandfather, William was born in 1723 and his wife Elizabeth Faulke, was born in 1728 and died in 1791.|
Jonathon married Jane Elizabeth Acon in 1871 having left the Bacton area and moved to the North East of England,Upleatham in 1870. His offspring settled in the Middlesbrough area while some moved even further north to the Gateshead/Newcastle area.
A census carried out in 1841 in Bacton shows the surname as HACKITH.
In 1851 the name is shown as going back to the HAGGITH spelling, which was repeated in 1861.
After the migration north, a census at Upleatham shows the surname as HAGGARTH (1871) and one final change came in 1881 in a census held at Maske, near Redcar as HAGGATH.
Much later, Ian Haggath, son of Johnathon William, emigrated to AUSTRALIA, his brother Donald has settled in WALES and their cousin, David, son of James Richard, has settled in SCOTLAND as have David's three children, David Anthony, Christina Ruth and Paul Gene.
I would be keen to have any information on the descendants of Jonathon William (born 3 April 1873)siblings - (Jane Elizabeth, George Henry, Mary Ann, Maria Phillis, Thomas and Christina).
Some descendants (still using the name HAGGITH)emigrated to CANADA.
I would be keen to hear from any of the Haggett's, Hagget's, Hackett's, Hacket's, Haggith's, Haggarth's or Haggath's out there, who may be related.I would be interested to hear from you.
Evcn if you are not a HAGGATH or any of the other spellings of the surname, if you know someone of that name, please alert them to this website so that they can contact me.
