|My family members with the surname Hagar have lived in Wisconsin since my great-great-great-grandparents settled near Avoca, Iowa County, in 1850. Jacob and Catharine Hagar came from Ohio before journeying to Wisconsin. Jacob Hagar was born in Pennsylvania in 1790. Catharine was born in either Maryland or Pennsylvania.Their children were Barbara, Priscilla, Mary, Roselinda and Alfred.Barbara married James Bennett; Priscilla married Mr. Conklin; Mary married Howard Harris who was born in Rhode Island; Roselinda married John JayCox; and Alfred, my great-great-grandfather, married Mary Magdalena Benscoter.|
Many of the related families such as Bennett, Jaycox, Harris, and Benscoter, migrated south from Pennsylvania to Ohio to Indiana to Illinois and to Wisconsin. From there the family branched out into Iowa, the Dakota's, Nebraska, Missouri, Montana and the State of Washington.
I've traced the Noyes branch of my ancestry back to the early colonial days in Massachusetts and Connecticut, and on to England. Fortunately I've been able to visit many of the areas where ancesters lived, worshipped, worked, raised their children and died. It's been an amazing journey through generation after generation dating back to 1640 in America.Other branches such as Preston, Landwehr, Bowell, Tews, Niffenegger, Yost, Parker and Schollmeyer, I've traced back to their European country of origin.
I continue to search for the missing Hagar link in Pennsylvania and Maryland.
