I am looking for information on my family. Below is some short information on the Halls and the Roberts. John M. Hall John M. Hall was born August 13, 1818 near Greenville, South Carolina.He married Josephine Duke, November 14, 1839.A son, Newton M. Hall was born September 7, 1841.Josephine died in 1842.September 4, 1843 John M. Hall married Perline E. Walker.In 1845 he moved to Scott County in Mississippi near Morton on a place known as Hall's Pierre.This was located one half mile off the main road on the Hillsboro & Morton Highway.He operated a farm and cotton gin.During the war between the states the Yankees burned Morton and searched for John Hall's place.Since it was off the main highway they missed it and went on to Hillsboro to burn it.Hillsboro was the county seat for Scott County.John Hall was a Captain in the Confederate States Army.He was in Company D, First Battalion of Mississippi Infantry from 1861 to 1865.He was at Vicksburg during the siege of that city.After the war, he returned to his family, sold the home place near Morton and moved to a place six miles north of Harpersville next to the Leake County line.There he lived until he died.
