Hankerson family original started on the Cracker Neck and Hankinson Plantation in Silverton, Barnwell Co., SC. Which now is known as Jackson, Aiken Co., SC, name was change about 1871 from Barnwell Co. to Aiken Co.Simon Hankerson, which most of the information gathering, his two wife, first wife unknown, and his second wife, which was a free mulatto, after he married her he became free, which was between 1820-1830.Simon & Mary, ten children was born to this union. Simon, Jr. 1840, Henry 1841, Martha 1844, Laura 1850, Mary Ann 1851, John 1852, Calvin 1853, (Albert 1856,my ggfather) Harriet 1859, Louisanna 1866. The family moved to Four Mile Twp, Barnwell, SC.During the early 1800, William B. Hankinson, moved to Burke Co., and his brother Robert Hankinson, move to Macon Co., Ga. and each one carried slaves with them whichwas relatives of Simon Hankinson. Most of the family live close by each other, except Simon Hankerson, Jr. He move to Beech Island, Aiken Co., SC. even now some family members still lives in that area.The Hankerson's family married into other family who lived close by.As of now Family members keep in touch with each other.
