Notes for SARAH ELEANOR WILLIAMS:
Sarah E. Williams was a beautiful woman. She married Sherod E. Lee on January 9, 1855, in Raymond, Hinds County, Mississippi. They lived near Edwards, Hinds County, Mississippi and had 5 children. The youngest child, Sherrod, Jr. died very young.
During the time Sherrod was off to the War, Sarah ran the Plantation. She would take the horse and wagon and talk her way thru the enemy lines to go to Vicksburg for supplies for the farm.
Once, Union Soldiers came to the farm, got off their horses, leaned their muskets against the 8X8 corner post and began looking around the farm.It undoubtly made Sarah mad for she took their muskets and whammed them against the post.Spunky little lady, wasn't she? Before the Soldiers left, they had gone into the smoke house, taken all the hams, poured out sugar and then poured out all the milk.
The spunky lady she was, it is told that Sarah ruled with an iron hand.Sherod was wounded and returned home.He died shortly after.Sarah, in 1869, married a Thomas Hudspeth from Kentucky who was a Union Soldier during the Civil War which greatly upset the family.Three children were born Sarah and Thomas, Steward, Paul and Margaret.
Sarah E. Williams Hudspeth and her husband, T.D. were the executors of her mother's estate, Lucinda Williams who died in 1868.
Notes for SHEROD LEE, JR.:

Sherod joined the Confederates on March 13, 1862 near Corinth, Mississippi, with Company "K" 45th Regiment of the Mississippi Infantry. On August 16, 1862 he was promoted to 3rd Corporal of the 3rd Mississippi Battalion. He was wounded in 1863 and returned homeand died about 1864.This informationwas from Hinds Samuel Lee, Jr. and his wife, Taylor.Grandma Lee Hudspeth, as they knew her, lived with Sam and Taylor before she died in McComb, MS.
