Curtis Henry Cline was born May 14, 1911 on a dairy farm near Morehouse, Missouri. He was the son of William Henry Cline, a native of Hickman County, KY and Nannie Lena Kline of New Madrid County, MO. Curtis was respected in the community for his hard work, honesty and integrity. He owned and operated Cline Limestone Company from 1939 to 1949, and is best remembered as a horticulturist and owner of Cline Nursery between 1950 and 1989.He was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Sikeston for over sixty years.Curtis was an optimistic person who kept his keen sense of curiosity and zest for living throughout his life. He was united in marriage at Sikeston to Marie Ruth Price on November 2, 1935, in New Madrid County, MO, daughter of Henry Price, a native of Saline County, Illinois and Anna Caroline Rettig, a native of Vanderburg County, Indiana. Curtis and Marie had three children:Curtis Eugene “Gene” Cline, born August 28, 1936 in Sikeston Charles Floyd “C.F.” Cline, born July 8, 1939 in Sikeston; and one daughter, Margaret Louise Cline, born July 4, 1944 in Cape Girardeau, MO. They build their life in Sikeston and spent their entire lives there in the house that Curtis, his brother-in-law Orville Couch and friends built in 1938 at 947 Lake Street. It was a four room house with a full bath and for the time very nice. They later built an addition as large as the original house and it also had a full bath.It was the family's Ancestral home for over sixty years. Marie was devoted to her children and family and was happiest when she was entertaining at home or when she was fishing.Marie died November 22, 2000, after 65 years of marriage to Curtis.Curtis died December 22, 2002 in Sikeston, Missouri. They are buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, just over the New Madrid County line, but still in Sikeston, Missouri. I am still researching the Cline and Tickell families of Hickman and Fulton Counties in southwestern Kentucky.Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have of the Cline, Kline, Tickell, Stallcup. Price, Rettig, Krieg and Fisher families from Kentucky, Indiana and Missouri and earlier Virginia.
