Notes for Col. Elijah Walker:
Information from Marilyn Houser Moses that she received from Tom Walker:
Elijah Walker was a Lt. Col. in the North Carolina Militia sometime after ?? -- he resigned his commission in 1836.I think this is correct because I have a copy of the resignation letter approved by the North Carolina General Assembly around here some place. He actually recommended his replacement.Maybe his background with the militia helped inspire all his sons to enlist in the CSA -- if they had a choice! It's my understanding that John J. Walker died in a hospital in Richmond.I further recall that he was wounded at Chancellorville.I suspect the family (Morgan) would have had the resources to have his body shipped home.signed Tom Walker
