William M CLAPP (b. 29 Oct 1877, d. 16 May 1965)

William M "Billy" Clapp is known, as written on his gravestone as "The Father of the Grand Coulee". In 1917 he had the vision of the Columbia Basin irrigation system and prompted building the dam.
William Clapp was admitted to the Bar in Wisconsin and moved from Friendship Village in Wisconsin to Waterville WA in 1905.The trip from Wenatchee took more than 8 hours by six horse stage.He moved to Ephrata in 1910.
