This family tree originates with Todras Jacob Gilman from Novo Alexanandrosk, Kovno, Lithuania who married FaigeShulman. Todras was also known as Theodore while Faige was also known as Fannie.Their surname may have been Gelman.They had 6 children named Morris, Celia, Louis, Sarah, Libby and Abraham.Morris and Celia immigrated to South Africa, and the others settled in Salem,Massachusetts in the USA.This occurred in the early years of the 20th century. The surnames we are looking for are Gilman, Gillman (in South Africa), Shapiro, Rimer, and Sacke (in South Africa). Four of the children who were Abraham, Louis, Sarah and Libby (aka Lelia) married and lived in or near Salem, Mass. Celia (aka Chisa) and Morris each married and lived in or near Johannesburg, South Africa. These 6 children were born between 1870 and 1890 in Lithuania. Their descendants now reside in both South Africa and the USA.I am the great-granddaughter of Todras and Faige Gilman. My grandfather, Louis Gilman, arrived in the US in 1904.
