Fred Laptad (b. 10 Mar 1876, d. 14 Apr 1947)
Notes for Fred Laptad:
Fred was a machinist by trade, went to Kansas University for two years, went to California and worked in Axleson's Shops, where he helped to make the first automobile he ever rode in. Built a house in Los Angeles and when it was ready Bessie went there to marry him. In May, 1906, after his father had a stroke, he moved back to Kansas and lived in a small house on his father's farm. Moved into the "big house" after his mother's second marriage and lived there the rest of his life. Fred died from a fall in a elevator from a windcharger tower, April 14, 1947. Fred was a farmer and a stockman, with an intrest in anything mechanical. Buried in Maple Grove Cemetary, north of Lawrence.
