Thomas E Hiegel | This web site is about the Hiegel Family Tree. This about my ancestors and their descendents. On my maternal side, I have been able to research the Wiber family. On my paternal side, I have been able to research Hiegel, Higel, Hartmann, and Weyhaupt, family members. On my maternal side it appears James C. Wiber was the first to come to the United States, from England, and he either married Margaret (Mary) Johnston in Ireland, before they both came to the United States. Or they married after arriving in New York, NY in about 1842, since their first child William H. Wiber, was born in New York on May 19, 1842. They moved to Illinois about 1858 and Missouri in about 1864. For the most part, the Wiber’s were house painters, however my Grandfather John Samuel Wiber owned a Broom Factory. On my paternal side it appears Francis Joseph Hiegel, a/k/a Francis Joseph Higel, came to the United States about 1839. He was naturalized July 15, 1844 in St. Louis, Missouri. Naturalization records list Joseph as “Joseph Heigal” a native of France. Francis Joseph Hiegel after coming to the United States, owned a Variety Store, and also was a mattress maker, and upholsterer, his business was located at 1653 North Green, which later became known as Benton Street, in St. Louis, Missouri. In researching Francis Joseph Hiegel, I have been able to research his ancestors back to Hermann Higel, Georgii Hartmann, and Michel Weyhaupt. Their descendents as well as the descendents of James C. Wiber will be listed in the various sections of this web site, as I have time to load the data. |
