Information compiled for the descendants of Michael Wilhelm Hoefling of Parsons, Labette County, Kansas, and the Pike Family of Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory with origins in Colonial North Carolina.
Michael Wilhelm Höfling immigrated to the United States as a young man from Gemünden am Main, Kingdom of Bavaria (Germany). His family operated a leather tanning and shoe manufacturing business that dated back to the late 1700's. Family folklore says that Michael and his brother were sent to America due to the anticipation of an outbreak of war in Bavaria in the mid-1800's.
The Huston and Pike families were located in North Carolina before the American Revolution, and migrated south and west after the war, the Hustons entering Kentucky before statehood and the Pikes into Georgia when it was still Indian Territory.
