The result of 10 years' research into the ancestors of Clarence Cecil Wilson, born Cando, ND August 6, 1896, and his wife, Lucile Elizabeth Smith, born April 16, 1900 in Pleasant Grove, Minnesota (moved to Springfield, OR 1904).The names researched in the Wilson tree are: (1) Wilson, William, born Quebec in 1810,- first record of the family is in1834 when daughter, Harriet was born in Perth, Ontario, Canada. (2) The wife was Katrin (Katherine) Young who, with family had come to Canada in 1823 on HMS Stakesby as part of the Peter Robinson settlers - resettlement of those who suffered from the first Irish potato famine.
Jolliffe, Richard & Margaret came to Bowmanville, Ont. in 1842 from England. Their daughter, Jane Jolliffe married John Wilson in Canada Jan. 30, 1864.Their son, George, (my grandfather) was born in December 1864.John & Jane homesteaded in ND in 1889, as did George.
George Wilson b.1864 in Dorchester Station, Ontario, married Pheobe Sullivan (Sullivan, Hunt, Rose, Daniels)in Crystal City, Manitoba in 1890 and they moved to Cando, ND.When Pheobe died in 1900 her sister, Emily, came to help w/children, in 1902 George & Emily were married.
The Smith side - from Richard Smith who came to NE from England in 1634, family moved to New York.Branches of the family include Beach, Warren,Fuller,Crockett, Dawley, Fones, Cole.The Fones line is proved back to George Soule who came over on the Mayflower. The Beach, Warren and Fuller lines are traced back to the Mayflower, but need proof in a couple of places.
Reuben Smith married Minnesota Jane McHenry (McHenry, McGovney, Phillips, Crockett) in St. Charles Minn in Sept. 1888.They moved to Springfield, OR in 1904
