Some of the surnames I'm researching are Hornbaker, Flory, Carter, Niswander, Rogers and Welch.
The first record of a Hornbaker in North America appeared in New Jersey in 1739. I am a descendent of John William Hornbaker I, who, according to family tradition, drowned while crossing the Licking River in Kentucky in 1817.
My maternal roots are in the Flory family, which arrived in Pennsylvania about 1733, and spread to Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa and onward.
