|Col. Jose Maria Sanchez was born in Barcelona, Spain on 03-18-1849, and married Natividad Cantu in Montemorelos, Mexico.Born on Christmas day 1848, Natividad was named after the Holiday. They owned a hacienda and ran a merchandising business.Devout Catholics, they had 4 children, Jose Delfino (adopted), Alfredo, Abelina and Eloisa.|
Jose Delfino Sanchez was born on 01-18-1870, and baptized in the Catholic Church on 02-10-1870.He arrived in Texas and settled in Hays County and entered the farming profession and attended the Methodist Church.He married Juanita Elizondo on 07-10-1897.Together they had 11 children; Elizabeth Elsie), Eliza, Raquel, and Eduelia were born in Hays County, TX and Otila (Tilley), Daniel, David, Jose, Delia, Robert and Delfino Jr., were born in San Antonio,TX. They opened a merchandise business on the corner of Guadalupe and Trinidad.The 1910 US census records indicates Jose Delfino Sanchez migrated to the U.S. in 1890.While living on S. Concho St. the family began attending the Pentecostal Mission known as "El Templo Cristiano." Delfino's two favorite songs that he played on the piano were; "Master, The Tempest is Raging" and "Give of Your Best to the Master" or "Da Lo Mejor al Maestro." Delfino passed away on 05-08-1943 at the age off 77 and Juanita passed away on 11-07-1974 at the age of 94. The Sanchez family has a rich heritage.Rich in family values, hard work, and dedication to the LORD.Delfino and Juanita gave God the glory and honor for their blessings, and their lives serve as examples for the Sanchez decedents of today. The challenge for us as their decendents is to keep the heritage and traditions of Delfino and Juanita alive for generations to come.
