Hutchins and Sheldons of Oxfordshire/Berkshire originUpdated February 22, 2012 | Hutchins and Sheldons Families of Oxfordshire/Berkshire including Hambidges, Pettifers, Mortimers, Hutchinsons, Walters, Shears, Priors, Davis, Lavis, Lee, Cook amongst many others related through marriages of the many and diverse families who have married into this varied tribe. I initially started this research on behalf of my wife and have become rather addicted after investigating my own family who appeared to be fiercely Welsh and it transpired that they had originated around the Abingdon/Wantage area and that the reason for moving to Wales appears to be to avoid child maintainence by my great Grandfather. I have researched back to the Hendred areas in the early 1700s on my side and if I could just find one more definite link I could get back much further On my wifes family I have managed with the able assistance of OFHS and other contacts to reach into the late 1600s and may yet reach further back as I become more proficient at research. I have enjoyed many hours of research for inlaws and have reached many families back in to the early 1800s |
